FARRAH KARAPETIAN

Flags & Teleprompters, 2017-18 Working within the flag code rather than against it to express distress at the state of the union, Farrah Karapetian photogrammed the flag upside down. Civil discourse in the United States has broken down to the extent that certainly people say different things than do their politicians, and so Karapetian inscribed teleprompters with the text from protests she had attended. She then worked with these teleprompters to make further photograms, as visible in selected images below depicting the White House Press Room in chaos, the 50 states of the American flag preoccupied with these statements, and etc.
