Sculptural Negatives

Karapetian coined the term "sculptural negative" to describe the objects she makes according to the logic of light. These are usually made with resin, ice, glass, or linear metals, as appropriate metaphorically to a project and logistically so as to impart volumetric shadows during the photogramming process and beyond. The process began with the sculpture "The Kitchen and Its Negative", then the resin walls in "Shipping Container" - both viewable in Other Manifestations.
